Downtime sketching fun: Year of the Dragon

So this was done during my downtime at work. Esther and I are trying to restart our joint art/sketch fun with the Dragon as our first subject back from the long hiatus. So if you want to see it completed, head on over to oni-bot.

Topless Robot Robot

Over the Christmas break, Topless Robot had their 2nd Annual Art Contest. The winners would receive a TR T-shirt. Anyway, my entry won for the New Topless Robot Robot category. I get a TR T-shirt, yay! This is the second version. I had more time to spend on it. The original one was a rush job, but he liked it. I like the second one.

Here's the one that won:

Maybe it was the glowing "nipples", I don't know. The important thing is I finally won a TR T-shirt. Yay again!

20 years this June.

It's been 20 years since I graduated high school. Wow, how time flies. Anyway, here are a couple of designs for our 20th High School Reunion T-Shirt. The first one is the one I sent in before they told me what they wanted. The second one is a knight helmet that's been given the "islander tattoo" treatment. It was originally done by a classmate friend of mine but he wasn't happy with his version, so I gave it a go. The whole idea for an islander knight helmet was that they wanted a shirt that people could wear even after the reunion and not a "class" shirt. I totally understand. Our original shirts were designed by me, and oh boy are they dated. Happy 20th class of 91!!

Ah work!

So, I don't think I'll be posting any new art for a while. I've recently been hired on by Her Interactive as a 3d Environment Artist. I used to post bg's that I was currently working on but that was under Monkey Barrel Games. They didn't mention anything regarding posting current unpublished game assests in their contract. Her does, so you won't be seeing anything until after it gets shipped. This is more a post for myself than anything, to justify to myself why I don't have anything new posted.

Oh and I did turn down the contractor position with ArenaNet. Mistake, maybe, but for what I need, I'm happy where I've landed.
